If you’re interested, here is a bit about what matters to me!
I want to become a Renaissance man.
Think Schwarzenegger: a bodybuilder, film star, governor, and actor. These people have expertise across multiple fields. They never stay stagnant, nor confine themselves to a single passion—as a result, they can harness insights across disciplines and tackle problems with original and nuanced perspectives.
I want to be both well-read and have the technical skills to combat any challenge. In high school I have already begun exploring my interests with both width and depth: through competitions in physics and computation, and passion projects in psychology and philosophy. But across everything I do, one thing remains constant—I always try to infuse my work with authenticity and passion.
I think life is too precious to only pursue only one thing. I want to study Buddhism in Nepal, train in psychoanalysis, volunteer across the globe, hike the Appalachian trail, become an aspiring writer, rock climber, mixed-martial artist, scientific researcher, racer, hitchhiker—I want to be a generalist, a polymath, a Renaissance man. As Heinlein says: “Specialization is for insects!”
